Join The IWW

Have you read and agreed with the principles of the Preamble to the IWW Constitution (found here)? Have you reviewed the information on this website and found yourself agreeing with what you are reading? Then why not join the IWW today and start organizing for a better tomorrow?

Who can join the IWW?

All workers can join the IWW, including members of other unions, students, retirees, the unemployed, the self-employed, those in informal professions, and those unable to work; exceptions being law enforcement officer, prison guards, people whose primary income (over 50% for at least 90 days) comes from being a landlord and officers of other trade unions or political parties. Obviously, no employers or anyone with the power to fire and hire can join the union.

You can read about how the IWW is structured here. Your membership is confidential. It is up to you whether you discuss the union with your co-workers. The IWW is not controlled by or affiliated with any political party or political movement. No money goes to politicians. Membership dues are used to maintain the union and assist organizing campaigns. As a result, monthly dues are low.

Ways to Join the IWW

After the structure reform of January 1, 2017, two Regional Administrations exist worldwide: the North American Regional Administration (NARA) and the Wales, Ireland, Scotland, England Regional Administration (WISE-RA). They coordinate the efforts together, and they accommodate the regional organizing committees, which do not have the size to form their own regional administration. If you live in a country with an active branch or regional committee, the best way to join and organize is by getting in contact with them (you will find a link to the Directory of all IWW branches, departments, and committees in our Contact Directory page).

If you live in a country without an active branch or regional committee, you can become an at-large member of either NARA or WISE-RA:
